On April 9th Pfluger Elementary PTA held their Second Annual PES Walk for Kids in Buda, Texas. This year they doubled their participation with 102 registered walkers, riders, runners, scooters, dog walkers, and stroller pushers! During the event they had tables set up for different child organizations in Hays County: Hays County Child Protective Board, Greater San Marcos Youth Council, Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, CASA of Central Texas, and Sylvan Learning Center. Each organization provided the walkers with “give away’s” and important educational materials for families and information about the services they provide.
As each participant crossed the finish line they were invited to plant a pinwheel in the school’s Pinwheels for Prevention Garden in front of a sign that explains how each pinwheel represents the belief that ALL children deserve to have a healthy and happy start. This garden will remain standing for the month of April and additional pinwheels are displayed in the front hall with a sign inviting parents and teachers to plant more with their children.
